At Lewoodesign, we work with different types of leather, each with its own personality. Today we want to introduce one of the most expressive materials in our workshop — Italian vegetable‑tanned leather, known as “Missouri.” It is more than a material. It is a story written directly into its surface.

We intentionally choose leather with minimal processing, so it preserves everything nature created: natural wrinkles, tiny marks, subtle scratches, and authentic grain. No artificial coating, no masking layers — only pure leather that darkens over time, gaining depth, warmth, and noble character.

Look closely at “Missouri,” and you will see an entire landscape: tiger‑like stripes, delicate veins, shifting tones, and a playful, uneven grain. Every centimeter is unique. This is why even within the same model, we never create two identical pieces — the material itself defines the individuality.

Working with such leather is a dialogue. It brings a touch of unpredictability into the process, and we draw inspiration from it every single day.

Where does “Missouri” leather come from?

It is European cowhide (a by‑product of the meat industry), tanned and developed in one of Italy’s finest tanneries — Conceria La Perla Azzurra. Its vivid, natural texture is not a flaw, but a testament to authenticity preserved in the material.
